Sobre Paulo e Sabina
A verdadeira história de Paulo e Sabina é bastante constrangedora. Paulo buscava mulheres mais bonitas e inteligentes que Sabina. Mas elas buscavam homens mais bonitos e ricos que Paulo. Sem muita alternativa, ele acabou ficando com Sabina, que não era assim tão bonita, mas pelo menos beijava bem. Também não era muito inteligente, não gostava de ler, preferia ficar no MSN conversando com as amigas. Esse gosto pela futilidade incomodava Paulo, que teria preferido uma mulher culta, com quem pudesse conversar sobre Dostoievski, Aldous Huxley, e sobre as teorias filosóficas que ele tanto apreciava. Sabina não gostava nem de filme de arte. Achava chato, muito parado, e ninguém pedia ninguém em casamento. Filme, para ser bom, tinha que ter pelo menos um pedido de casamento.
Paulo tentou, pela internet, conhecer outra garota. Tinha que haver pelo menos uma que gostasse de ler. E, de fato, havia muitas. Elas liam Clarice Lispector, eram introspectivas, tinham sensibilidade para descrever em detalhes o temperamento de uma pessoa. O rapaz ficava encantado, mas quando via as fotos, percebia que não poderia namorar uma garota daquelas ” porque eram feias.
Acabou se acostumando aos papos chatos de Sabina. Como não tinha nenhuma cultura, ela só sabia conversar sobre o que os amigos e parentes tinham feito durante a semana. Não falava sobre livros interessantes. Quando descrevia um filme, dizia apenas que era “muito legal” ou “muito ruim”; era incapaz de lembrar detalhes da trama. Se Paulo reclamava, ela respondia “Ai, eu sou burrinha, né? Ha, ha, ha…”
Um dia Paulo explodiu, e acabou contando a verdade. Nunca sonhara com Sabina. Ficara com ela apenas porque as mulheres mais bonitas e mais inteligentes que ela não haviam se interessado por ele. Sabina levou um susto. “Então aconteceu com você também?”, perguntou. “Como assim?”, rebateu Paulo, confuso. “À que eu também buscava homens mais bonitos e ricos que você, mas eles não quiseram nada comigo”. Os dois caíram na risada. O namoro era fruto das circunstâncias, nenhum deles tinha sonhado um com o outro. Mas Sabina lembrou que Paulo beijava bem, e demorava um pouco para gozar ” até dava para gozar com ele. E Paulo lembrou que Sabina tinha um corpinho muito gostoso, era safadinha na cama, não tinha vergonha, não ficava com neuras. Ficar com ela era bem melhor que ficar sozinho. Os dois se abraçaram. Meio sem jeito, Paulo começou a falar. “Desculpa, tá. Na verdade eu tenho que agradecer por ter você. Quando estava sozinho, eu era muito triste…” Parou por aí porque sentiu que estava se emocionando demais. Sabina ficou comovida, seus olhos marejaram, mas não sabia direito o que dizer. Acabou dizendo “eu te amo”, o que deixou Paulo um pouco assustado. Ele se sentiu pressionado, achou que a garota queria que ele também dissesse que a amava, mas não era exatamente isso que ele queria dizer. “Eu também te amo!”, acabou dizendo, subitamente, sem saber como se livrar daquela pressão.
Até hoje Paulo não sabe se ama Sabina, mas os dois continuam juntos. E essa é toda a verdade sobre eles. As coisas que eles escrevem nos cartões, as coisas que eles dizem aos amigos, as coisas que falam um para o outro, quando estão ao telefone, essas são apenas as mentiras que vocês conhecem.
